In 1884, Breitling took its first steps as a watchmaker. Since the mid-1930s, the brand has had a long and profound relationship with the aviation industry, and the launch of its in-house movements in 2009 has established its legendary status in the watch world. These important moments still have a lasting impact today. In 2024, Breitling will build on these achievements with three new replica watches to mark its 140th anniversary.
Let’s start with the B19 movement, which dates back to the launch of Caliber 01 in 2009, Breitling’s first in-house movement. This movement was a breakthrough in the brand’s development, not only increasing Breitling’s autonomy and independence from external suppliers but also greatly enhancing the brand’s reputation. This modern chronograph movement has a simple structure, is easy to mass-produce, and meets the highest requirements for precision. It is the core power of many replica Breitling classics. First unveiled at Baselworld in 2009, Caliber B01, housed in the iconic Chrono-Matic case, was a milestone for Breitling.
Caliber B01 is produced in a state-of-the-art factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, called the Breitling Chronométrie. At the time, its efficient assembly process was more automated than traditional mechanical watches, including oiling and laser attachment of the balance spring to the collet. Today, these levels of automation are industry standard, demonstrating Breitling’s forward-looking and innovative capabilities at the time. In addition, the factory’s carefully designed laboratory pre-tests the assembled movement to ensure there are no potential assembly or C.O.S.C. certification issues.
Breitling’s history has introduced several in-house chronograph movements, such as the B02 with a 24-hour display, the B03 with split-seconds, and the B04 with GMT. However, the automatic B19 movement is the brand’s first exclusive chronograph movement equipped with a perpetual calendar function. In addition to the perpetual calendar function, the B19 is equipped with a moon phase display. The perpetual calendar function automatically adjusts leap years and months with less than 31 days until the next secular year (i.e. 2100). In addition, the B19 movement has an excellent power reserve of up to 96 hours (4 days).
Knockoff Breitling Caliber B19 Powers Three New Perpetual Calendar Watches
Breitling replica dealer not only launched a new automatic perpetual calendar movement but also used it in three new red gold case watches. Each limited edition of 140 pieces has important historical significance.
Imitation Breitling Premier B19 Datora
Inspired by the 1943 Premier, the copy Breitling Premier B19 Datora 140th Anniversary is a classic and elegant watch known as the “gentleman’s chronograph.” The new watch features a 42mm 18K red gold case and continues the Premier series’ distinctive Arabic numerals, contrasting minute track, and square buttons. Even the tachymeter scale (which can be used in conjunction with the chronograph function to determine average speed) is elegant, but it’s hard to compare with the exquisite moon phase at 12 o’clock. The red and gold moon image on the moon phase display adds a unique charm to the watch.
Fake Breitling Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar
The Breitling Navitimer replica needs little introduction, and the new Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary continues the glorious history of this legendary pilot’s watch. It not only has chronograph functions but also comes with the brand’s unique slide rule “flight computer”. As early as 1936, Breitling introduced a slide rule on the Chrono-Matic, allowing pilots to easily perform a variety of calculations. The Navitimer launched in 1952 further expanded the calculation function to cover all necessary operations from fuel consumption to flight planning, just like a mechanical navigation computer, in which pilots can complete navigation calculations in the cockpit by rotating the bezel. The Navitimer quickly became a symbol of pilots around the world and represented the core spirit of the Breitling brand. Few other watches in this series can compare with it, and it remains Breitling’s flagship work to this day.
The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary watch perfectly inherits this classic flight instrument, with an 18K red gold case that contrasts sharply with the dark dial. The iconic fluted bezel stands out against the precious metal, lending this traditional instrument watch an elegance befitting its perpetual calendar and moon phase complication.
Duplicate Breitling Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar
The third and final of the three red and gold anniversary watches is the Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary. This watch pays homage to the Breitling chronograph launched in 1983, which was created as the official watch for the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori, and a wider version was launched in 1984. The importance of this watch stems from the era in which it was born: Breitling had been hit by the quartz crisis that had swept the entire Swiss watch industry since the 1970s. In December 1978, Willy Breitling announced layoffs and the closure of the factory. However, this closure did not last long, as engineer and pilot Ernest Schneider acquired the 1:1 Breitling brand and registered his new company Montres Breitling SA in Grenchen a year later. The “new” Breitling initially focused on the production of electronic watches, following the trend of the time, but with the revival of mechanical watches in the mid-1980s, Breitling returned to the production of traditional mechanical movements.
The Chronomat marked the return of the mechanical chronograph to the market and introduced the now-famous rider tag or “claw” bezel design, which quickly became a bestseller for the brand. This classic design continues in this 44 mm red gold anniversary edition with a redesigned rider tag, a shiny ceramic bezel with a particularly eye-catching 15-minute scale, and a grapevine-style crown. Another attractive detail is the rouleaux-style bracelet remade in rubber. The skeletonized dial of this watch is also a first for Breitling, which is clear and visually striking.
All of these Perpetual Calendar watches, like every Breitling timepiece since 1999, are certified as chronometers by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (C.O.S.C.). This certification is a symbol of Breitling’s excellence, without it, Breitling would not be Breitling. Just as the year “1884” is important, every counterfeit Breitling watch proudly displays the brand’s name on the dial, highlighting its long history and excellence.
